Give one direction at a time: "Color the circle blue." Once your child can follow single steps reliably, add a second step.
Read each direction to your child clearly and slowly. Have them repeat it back before starting. This builds listening comprehension.
Play Simon Says with multi-step directions: "Simon says touch your nose AND jump." Games make direction-following feel like fun, not work.
When your child follows directions correctly, name what they did: "You listened carefully and did both steps. Great following directions!"
