Teaching Tips

Start with 3 words

Introduce just 3 CVC words per session. Let your child master them before adding more. Quality repetition builds real fluency.

Tap each sound

Have your child tap the table for each sound: /c/ /a/ /t/. Then blend them together. This multi-sensory approach strengthens phonemic awareness.

Use real objects

After reading a CVC word, find or draw the object. Connecting words to meaning makes reading feel purposeful and fun.

Celebrate effort

Praise the process ("You sounded that out so carefully!") rather than just the result. This builds reading confidence.
