Teaching Tips

Proper pencil grip

Teach the tripod grip from the start: thumb and pointer finger hold the pencil, resting on the middle finger. Good habits now prevent problems later.

Keep sessions short

Fine motor work is tiring for small hands. Five to ten minutes is plenty. Stop before frustration sets in.

Pair with hands-on play

Playdough, bead stringing, and tearing paper all build the same muscles. Mix worksheet practice with hands-on activities.

Praise effort

Tracing perfectly is not the goal. Praise your child for trying, for staying on the line, and for improving over time.
